Whole Smoked Horseshoe Gammon joint will arrive ready to roast. The horseshoe shape gives this gammon its unusual name. Beautifully tender and full of our lovely smoky flavour, this whole Smoked Gammon will serve a large party of people, approx. 32 depending on portion sizes.
It’s a prime rind-on gammon taken from the centre of the leg. Our butchers remove the bone and trim prior to curing in the traditional way using curing salts. The aim is that the salt pulls out some of the moisture allowing some of the salt to move in, a process that takes 21 days. The outcome is that this leaves the right amount of moisture and the right amount of salt in the pork. Ultimately this helps to create the exquisite flavours. The joint is then naturally oak smoked so it ready for you to roast to provide a sumptuous Smoked Horseshoe Gammon joint.
This Joint is a versatile Gammon perfect for roasting or slicing into thick Gammon Steaks and cooking on the barbecue. A whole smoked Horseshoe Gammon is the ideal joint to serve at Christmas or any big gathering. Serve with a tasty chutney for the finishing touch.
